I recently was in contact with the people at EcoMom and they sent me a Plum Organics Sampler / Revolution Food Sampler pack. In the package came; Tots Organic Apple Carrot Fiddlesticks, Tots Organic Strawberry Mish Mash, Organic Baby Spinach, Peas & Pear, Organic Baby Pumpkin & Banana, Grammy Sammy Organic Honey Graham & Strawberry Bars, Jammy Sammy Organic Strawberry Jam & Peanut Butter Bars, Organic Strawberry-Banana Mashups, Organic Grape Jelly & Peanut Butter Bars and Organic Tropical Mashups.
My oldest daughter tried the Strawberry Mish Mash, she downed it and asked for more. She then ate the Grammy Sammy Organic Honey Graham & Strawberry Bars and kept saying “mmmm” as she ate. She then tried the Jammy Sammy Organic Strawberry Jam & Peanut Butter, she didn’t like it, but I ate the rest and LOVED it. We both tried the Tots Organic Apple Carrot Fiddlesticks and were fighting over who got to eat more, LOL. I also fed my baby the Organic Baby Pumpkin & Banana, she was “smacking” her lips while eating.
I love that I know these foods are healthy for my children and taste so good. My oldest asked if we will be getting more and I think we will be. Hey, anything that gets my child eat fruits & veggies without an argument must be good.
Although the packaging is very small and compact-able I was disappointed that it wasn’t recyclable. But that would be my only “complaint”.
EDIT- I received this from the company and it made sense to me so I thought I add it to explain why it’s not recyclable right now.
“There is a push by Plum to find a material that is recyclable, however this is not that easy. Neither Plum, nor our previous supplier, Sprout have a recyclable pouch because finding a BPA-free pouch that can deliver a shelf-stable product and is recyclable is currently impossible, as far as I am aware. That said, the cap on the Plum package is recyclable. But more importantly, this type of packaging actually has a smaller environmental impact than glass or plastic. It is lighter which means it takes less energy to ship. It also takes less energy to produce. So although it isn’t recyclable, it is still a net positive over glass or plastic jars.” Thank you Jody for giving me this info, very helpful.
More about EcoMom and Plum & Revolution:
“For the first time in over fifty years, we have the unique opportunity to raise a generation of children with food free from harmful pesticides, chemical additives, and overly processed, genetically engineered ingredients. We like to think of these little ones as Generation Organictm , children that will have the chance to grow stronger and live longer because they were given pure, healthy food right from the start. That’s why at Plum Organics we’ve created a family of organic meals and snacks for babies and toddlers that help parents nourish the next generation with yummy, nutritious foods.
We believe that introducing babies to real food with delightful tastes and pure ingredients, can create a foundation for a lifetime of healthy eating. Our meals are cooked just the right amount, as compared to other processing methods used by conventional jarred baby food that expose foods to extremely high temperatures and lengthy cooking times and result in less flavor and a loss of natural nutrients. Research has shown that eating a variety of healthy foods and minimizing the intake of processed foods with additives and preservatives can help prevent health concerns later in life such as allergies, obesity and early onset diabetes.”
Plum and revolution also offer a wide variety of products from the High Chair to the Lunch Box.
“Founded to address the connection between the health of our environment and the health of our children, EcoMom is committed to making eco-conscious living easy, affordable, and rewarding.
