freckles & friends- review (CLOSED)

Wow, where to begin. I love freckles & friends and her Wee Ones. Once I saw these little guys online I had to have one for my girls.

We received our friends recently and instantly fell in love. We got “Piper the Penguin” and “Mimi the Wee Mouse“. I want to start with the package it came in then take you to the stuffies themselves.

The package had a nice shipping label and at tag that said “Open With Care- Love Inside”. I thought that was so sweet and it got us excited to open up to see our new friends. Each friend was wrapped in tissue paper and came with tags on them telling us their name and a little of what they “like”. For instance, Piper likes “salty sardines and the movie ‘Happy Feet’”.

Now to the friends. They are very well put together and are so soft and cuddly. I also love the little heart sewn on the front, it makes it so special. I love that these friends are made of fabric that are remnants left over from other crafts, making sure nothing is wasted.

And the biggest test, does “Lee Lee” like them. I’ll let the picture speak for it’s self.

“Ever since I was a little girl with a face full of freckles I’ve had an affinity for stuffed animals. I grew up in a rural setting so there were no friends next door to join in a game of jump rope. My meager family of stuffed animals – two bears, a squirrel, a dog and a snake (yes a snake) – became my best friends. I talked to them. I read to them. I took them on strolls around the farm. But most of all, I tucked them in each and every night in a long row across my big bed. They had to have the blankets up to their chins, just like me.

Now all grown up I combined my love of soft little plushies with my fondness for sewing and created “freckles & friends.” I took sewing classes in school, but the really good stuff I learned from my Mom — who at age 91 still sews every day. The best trick I learned from Mom? Cut patterns conservatively and never, ever waste a thing. She grew up during the Great Depression; I call her the Original Recycler!

Hence my animals (all my original designs) are small because they are made with remnants of fabric used in other projects.

My “baby safe” animals have been baby-tested and are safe for young children. Of course, as with any toy adult supervision is wise.
