“Touch the Art” books review (CLOSED)
I received two NEW books in the Touch the Art Series, “Count Monet’s Lilies” & “Find King Henry’s Treasure” by Julie Appel & Amy Guglielmo
“INTRODUCING TWO NEW BOOKS IN THE TOUCH THE ART SERIES: COUNT MONET’S LILIES & FIND KING HENRY’S TREASURE!
The importance of art in a child’s education is undeniable. However, with formal art instruction on the decline, it’s often up to parents to act as art educators. What better time to initiate and develop a lifelong love of art than in the preschool years? Touch the Art is an original, interactive series that gives kids the chance to discover the world’s most revered masterpieces through their fingertips: with fun, textured touch spaces, kids can tug, snap, lift and pull their way through art history!
The brand new titles in the series, Count Monet’s Lilies and Find King Henry’s Treasure, offer families the chance to explore Impressionist art and sixteenth century art and artifacts. There is no combination more magical than a curious child, a loving parent and an engaging teaching tool. Touch the Art makes the circle complete. Exhibited art in museums all over the world can be now found within your lap.”
Each book combines historical paintings with different developmental skills that help to keep your child’s attention and teach them as well as introduce them to classic art. Out of the two books I received, one helped with counting and the other book was all about texture and working though an adventure.
I love how they use classic art work while incorporating textiles in a different way on each page. Lee Lee and Moo both loved turning the pages and feeling the different textures. The stories are easy to read with your child. My favorite part of the books are the last few pages which show the real artwork and give the history behind each of them, adding another learning tool to the books.
These are very well built board books and each page is nice and thick, meaning they will be able to last through for many years.
These books are on my Holiday list and I would recommend these for yours as well.
