“A Walk in My Shoes” movie review

I wrote a post a few days ago sharing with you the NBC’s upcoming Family Movie Night’s new movie “A Walk in My Shoes” airing Friday, Dec 3, 2010 – 7pm CST! Today I was allowed to watch a pre-screening of the movie. Below is the synopsis of the movie again and then my thoughts.

“Ever judge someone just by looking at them? Of course, we’ve all made snap judgments about people. But what if we really got to know them? How would our opinions change? And what if we were forced to become them… how would the shoes fit then? Stressed-out high school teacher Trish Fahey can’t understand her students’ lack of effort and why their parents don’t seem to care. This is especially true of Justin Kremer, a popular, skateboard-loving, basketball star who is underperforming in her class. Trish has him suspended from the team and quickly chalks up the situation as a case of bad parenting. This perspective dramatically changes when Trish meets Molly, a mysterious stranger intent on helping her see things differently. When Trish wrecks her car, Molly is there as Trish wakes to find herself living the life of Cindy Kremer, the woman she has personally judged and criticized. Trish discovers that there is often more to the story and learns a powerful lesson that affects everyone she interacts with. Her husband, her daughter, the ex-Marine next door… No one is left unchanged.”

My Thoughts-
I really enjoyed this movie. I look forward to watching it again when it airs.
This movie makes you think of what your priorities are in life AND to not always think you know what’s going on in someone else’s life.
Trish, Justin’s teacher, assumes Justin is lazy and that is mother isn’t a good mother when he doesn’t hand in is writing assignment on time. As a result she has him suspended from the basketball team and talks with his mother about being a good mother. Trish also is busy in her life and ignores her family for her activities.
Through a mysterious lady Trish is found in Justin’s mom. She sees her life through someone else’s eyes AND she finds out that Justin’s life isn’t what it seems.
This movie really got me thinking about my priorities in my life, and am I listening to my families needs. I also have caught myself second guessing myself with my judgments of others. Even if I think I “know” them, I may not know what is really going on in their life when I am not around. Some people I may come in contact with may seem happy-go-lucky on the outside but inside and at home they are hurting and no one knows it.

I hope you all will tune into NBC’s upcoming Family Movie Night’s new movie “A Walk in My Shoes” airing Friday, Dec 3, 2010 – 7pm CST. it’s a perfect movie to sit down with your family and watch. I know my family will be watching.
