A Great Catch by Lorna Seilstad
“It’s the beginning of a new century at Lake Manawa resort in Iowa, but some things never change. When Emily Graham’s meddlesome aunts and grandmother take it upon themselves to find her a husband among the resort guests, the spunky suffragist is determined to politely decline each and every suitor. She has neither the time nor the need for a man in her busy life.
Carter Stockton, a recent college graduate and a pitcher for the Manawa Owls baseball team, intends to enjoy every minute of the summer before he is forced into the straitlaced business world of his father.
When their worlds collide, neither Emily nor Carter could have guessed what would come next. Will Carter strike out? Or will Emily cast her vote for a love that might cost her dreams?
The perfect summer novel, A Great Catch will enchant you with its breezy setting and endearing characters.”

My Thoughts-
I was very excited to have the chance to read this book, being that I’m originally an Iowa girl myself. This book takes place close to Council Bluffs, Iowa and I know where that is. So cool.
The book was hard for me to get into at first but after the forth chapter I was hooked. Emily is a fun character in the book. She very head strong and prideful but very clumsy. Her mission in life is to allow women the right to vote. But she’s too busy to keep God of the center of this mission. She then throws in a love life, Carter and things get even more crazy. Carter wants a dedicated christian women but knows that Emily is lost. Even her family sees it.
The books keeps you wanting more. You want to see Emily find her way back to God, to have her find love and to finally see women have the same rights as men. With Carter you want to see him find the perfect godly women for him, to be able to live his dream of playing baseball and to make is brother & father proud.
You will have many a good laugh when reading this book as well as some good cries. This is the perfect Christian romance novel for those who love a good CLEAN love story. I know that I loved this book so much that I’m donating it to my church’s library so other women can read it too.
