I’m on Vacation

So, I left Thursday for our 4.5 week trip to visit family in Iowa and on Manitoulin Island. I get to see my family only once a year and I always look forward to this trip. My blogging will be less but I will make an effort to keep up with the view items I have received.

We left 8AM-EST Thursday morning and heading for Michigan. The boarder crossing went well and the traffic was smooth. We arrived in Michigan City, IN at 4PM-CST. Chris made reservations via CheapHotels.com at the Country Inns & Suites. When looking for a hotel we were looking for a family friendly place, one with a pool and if possible a gym. Country Inns & Suites gave us it all. Upon arriving we were quickly and nicely given our room. My first impression was great, the lobby didn’t smell of cigarette smoke, and the whole hotel looked so clean. We got to our room and discovered the floor was wet. I went back to the front desk and with no hassle is kindly got us a new room, no problem.

Like I said, the hotel has a pool. Once dinner was done we all dressed and heading for the pool. It was very cold at first but we had fun. they also has a whirl pool that was warmer and so relaxing. After the pool the girls got ready for bed while I went to the gym. There was a resistant weight machine, 1 elliptical, and 2 treadmills. There was someone else on the elliptical which disappointed me first but I went for the treadmill anyway. it was a Precor and it had an interval setting. I worked out for 45 minutes and loved it. There was also a TV in the room and towels provided. I couldn’t believe I got to workout on my trip, I have never gotten to do that. We had a great night sleep and then were served a great breakfast. there were even healthy choices, I had some fresh fruit on top of oatmeal and some eggs.

Then on Friday we headed for Chicago, while in Chicago we visited our old school, Moody Bible Institute. We were hoping people would be around but most were on vacation this week. Oh, well. it was still nice to show our kids our old school.

After visiting MBI we headed to a North Suburb and visited my old roommate, Amy, it was so awesome to catch up with her again.

Then we finished our trip and are in Iowa visiting my family. I love and miss them so much.
