“In Between” by Jenny B. Jones
“In the midst of a dark situation, Katie finds light in the most unexpected places: a friendship with an eccentric senior, the commitment of her foster family, and a tragic secret that changed them forever.
Katie’s rebellious attitude is at odds with her family, school, and classmates. But in the midst of a dark situation, Katie finds light in the most unexpected places.”
This is the first in a series of books following a foster girl by the name of Katie. I can’t wait to read more of this story.
“In Between” intros us to the life of Katie. Her mom is in jail from selling drugs and Katie isn’t thrilled to be in a foster home. She starts off trying to look and be tough. But after falling into the wrong crowd and hurting her family she began to change. And although she hasn’t found Christ yet, we can see her coming closer to an understanding.
I love that in this book they don’t sugar coat everything when it comes to talking about God. It even shows how as Christians we sometimes use words that aren’t understandable to the “outside world”. I also love that the book didn’t end with “Katie became Christian and everyone lived happily ever after”. It wasn’t rushed and we have something to look forward to in the next books.
This book is perfect for Christian teens, especially girls. If you’re looking for a great read this is the one for you.
