“THE BOOK OF LOST FRAGRANCES fuses history, passion, and suspense, moving from Cleopatra’s Egypt and the terrors of revolutionary France to Tibet’s battle with China and the glamour of modern-day Paris. Jac’s quest for the ancient perfume someone is willing to kill for becomes the key to understanding her own troubled past.

M.J. Rose is a skilled writer and a remarkable storyteller. Using Cleopatra’s lost book of fragrance formulas as a stepping stone, Rose spins a tale replete with stunning twists and compelling characters that will keep readers turning the pages late into the night.”

My Thoughts-
“THE BOOK OF LOST FRAGRANCES” by M.J. Rose was a very interesting book. I learned a lot about Egyptian history and also was able to go into a land of mystery and fantasy. The book was really hard for me to get into at first. It went a lot into history and at times I would catch myself reading the same page over and over before I got it. But I can say I’m glad for all the back history so I could understand the current story.
The L’Etoile family is as risk of loosing their perfume business, a business that has been in the family centuries. Jac and Robbie are brother and sister. Jac thinks it would be best to cut their losses but Robbie wants to try to save it all. He is determined to find the family’s legendary perfume pot. He thinks he may have found it but the jar was empty. There still is a faint scent and he hopes his sister will help him identify the different pieces. When she refused he turned to his friend Griffin, who is an expert on hieroglyphics. The problem is the jar is broken and they have to piece is together and hope the translation will help them find the meaning/ingredient.
There is a lot of drama that begins to happen and I felt like I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, I was so into it.
This is a romantic, mystery, drama book. It does start out a bit slow but please stick with it. You’ll love getting taken in to the story and feel like you’re in another world. I’m glad I got to read this book and I really hope you’ll pick it up and read it too.
