I was very interested in trying out the Exergen TemporalScanner Thermometer–
“It is an infrared thermometer that captures temperature by scanning the heat that comes off the forehead (via the temporal artery).”
My kids hate taking their temperature via mouth and ear, and I hate doing it rectally. I also have found a lot of forehead thermometers are not as accurate as I’d like. I love the idea of the Exergen TemporalScanner Thermometer, with just a simple swipe across the forehead it reads the temperature from the temporal artery giving me a very accurate read of my child’s temperature.
The positive I got from it, very accurate, once you get use to using it it’s easy to use, my kids don’t mind it and it’s still small enough to fit in the diaper bag. It also takes a 9v battery and in the battery compartment there is a switch to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
The only negative was the length of time it took me to get use to using it. You start in the middle of the forehead, press the button and slide gently to the side of the forehead and release the button. I found it was hard to slide the thermometer smoothly without sticking to the head at first. But with a little practice it’s very easy to use now.
I’m sold on the Exergen TemporalScanner Thermometer and would be great as a baby shower gift. There are many stores you can purchase this at, including Babies”R”Us, Walmart, Walgreens and many more stores…
