My Thoughts-
I’m sure a lot of you will fall into this category, you take a lot of photos but never get around to printing them. I’ve been guilty of this, it’s been since 2008 since we have printed any photos. Recently I found some old photo albums from my childhood and remembered all the fun my brother and I would have sitting down together and looking through them, remembering fun times. I realized I need to make sure I can allow my own kids this same chance to look through photos of their childhood. I was excited to have the chance to work with a new Canadian printing company, GroupBook, to create a photo book of our family in 2009.

It was suggested that we place all the photos in a folder and start your upload and go do something else while it does this. We found if we did the photos in 20’s that we could start on our book while each set uploaded. This saved us time and allowed us to see where our book was going. We choose the 8×8 Soft Printable Cover photobook to create our family memories with. You can choose from many different themes or pick a blank book for you to fully customize your book. We went with a blank book. Once you place a photo on the page you desire you can move, resize, rotate, crop, place in front or in back of another photo (allowing the layered look) and a few other options you can do with the photo.

You are also allowed to add any text you want, and that is fully customizable as well. You can pick color, size, bold, underline, font and positions. We loved this feature, usually when you have photo albums you write on the back of a photo to talk about what it was about, here you get to do it with the photo on the page. To add a special touch to our pages there is a lot of clip-art things to pick from. In 2009 our youngest was born and we we added a lot of baby times to the pages. It was sort of like creating a scrapbook.

When you’re done with your photo book you can save it, order it in print and also share it with family and friends online. With this you can do many things, View Only (Your friends will only be able to view your design.), View and Order (Your friends will be able to view and order your design.), Share a Copy (Your friends will be able to view, copy and order your design.) or Collaborate (Your friends will be able to view, modify and order your design).

When my photobook came I couldn’t wait to share it with my girls. I was very pleased with the quality of the paper, print and the book as a whole. The girls loved looking through the book with me and talking about the past and sharing fun memories. I know this is a book we will enjoy forever. I also love that it fits nicely on our coffee table, unlike a large photo album.

Would I recommend GroupBook? YES! And I know we will be creating more books, we have a lot more photos to print out and a photobook is perfect. For the quality of book I would give it 5/5 stars and for the ease of use online 4/5 stars. We had very little problems using the system, just a few tweaks to work through that may just be how we were trying to use it. I would say the whole experience was awesome and I’m smiling.
(so sorry my photos of this book don’t show how awesome it really is, low light in the room made it grainy.)
