“Asylum- The Circeae Tales” by Ashley Hodges Bazer
Erica asked me to read this book as it’s not a style that she enjoys as much.
I enjoyed Asylum, but because I typically don’t have time to read in big chunks of time, it did take a little while to get into. Bazer hits the ground running and I felt bombarded by characters, relationships and terminology specific to the world of the story.
Once things got going it was a very good read. The very fast paced, exciting writing style keeps you wanting to read and find out what is going to happen next. Even though it is Sci-Fi in, I think people who are not comfortable with this style would still enjoy reading it.
There are many Christian themes woven into the storyline as the characters have strong faith in the Crown and the Price (parallels with God and Jesus), but that does not distract from the solid storyline.
I found the characters to be believable, and their emotions very real.
I would recommend this book, but suggest that you push through the beginning as it does get better!
