“Dessert Designer” by Capstone Young Readers
I’m not a baker, I can’t even make a successful cake with a mix, I was hoping to finally be able to make great creations with the book “Dessert Designer”. A lot of the recipes/ideas called for cupcakes, since I don’t bake well I used store made ones. And that is the idea behind this book, no baking required, just fun and creative designs you can make with your kids. With most of the creations you will also need food coloring and frosting. For review purposes I picked the “Candy Shake” idea.
This idea was simple to make and the ingredients easy to find, I found everything I needed at a bulk store. It calls for pink, white and brown candies; I used Valentine’s candy corn and chocolate chips, cotton candy, candy stick; I missed getting this at the store, and a red candy; I used a sour cherry ball. I picked the ingredients I did because of Valentine’s coming up. I think it turned out really cute and will make perfect center pieces for an upcoming party we are having.
The book has over 50 fun creations. Some others we can’t wait to try are, “Pick-A-Flower Party Favors”, “Lollipop Disco Ball”, “Sweet Tweet” and for my youngest birthday party I would love to make the “Coaster Cake”. There are a few creations I’m not sure I would be able to attack, but there are a ton I’d love to try. I would highly suggest picking up this book. They are very cute, fun to make and are perfect for people who make desserts often or for those who just want to spruce up their desserts.
