“Shattered” by Dani Pettrey
**WARNING, may contain spoilers**
Back in July of last year I read the first book in the Alaskan Courage book series called, “Submerged”. I loved reading that book and couldn’t wait to read this next book. I fell in love with the characters all over again.
The story is centered around the McKenna family and their very close friends. Piper McKenna finds her brother covered in blood in their house one night. Soon he is arrested for the murder of a girl named Karli that is in town for a snow boarding competition. Piper knows her bother is innocent but she can’t convince Deputy Landon Grainger, a life long friend of the family. But soon both Piper and Landon are traveling to Canada and California trying to figure out who killed Karli and why. In amongst this Landon finds the true love of Christ and also starts to accept his deep feelings for Piper. But does Piper feel the same way? Will they find the real killer or did her brother really do it? Plus not only is there a love story between Piper and Landon but a new one is forming between Gage (another brother of Piper) and Darcy (a sports reporter and a new friend that helps the McKenna’s find the truth). The story leaves you hanging with questions of whether Gage will finally forgive himself and God of the loss of his son and you want to see him and Darcy happy together. I look forward to the next book.
This story is a great fast paced read. It’s a murder mystery, love story and a faith based book all in one. Dani Pettrey does a wonderful job introducing each of the characters and their quirks. Making this book an easy book to get caught up in and you feel like you’re part of the story. I look forward to the next boo where I can become part of the McKenna family again.
