“This Is Our Time” on DVD April 16th, 2013
This movie is centered around five friends, who are bonded by their faith. Ethan and Ale are brother and sister, Ale is married to Luke, Ryder and Catherine are friends. The just graduated college and are looking for their place in life. Ale and Luke are called to serve in India where they take care of children who’s families suffer with leprosy. Ryder finds a job specializing in social media. Cathrine is in with the big shots in investment. And Ethan is stuck working at the family “Grill”. Ethan feels like his life has been worthless, that everyone else is following their calling. A very tragic even happens and is causes all of them to look at their lives and see if this is “Their Time” or are they doing “God’s Time”. Through the tragedy they each find their purpose and help a group of kids who need help the most.
I really enjoyed this movie. It’s very deep and had me crying a lot, but also had me thinking about my own life. I went to a Bible college with plans on being a missionary or serving God through video media. I left college with a degree that I have never used and feel like I have failed God and my family. This movie had me looking at this. Ethan learns that God calls us to do different things in different ways and what we think is God’s calling looks like may not totally be what God is really asking of us. I see that I’m a mom, a Sunday school teacher, and a support at my kids school. I can see that God has plans for me through this, it’s not what I planned but I know I can love and serve Him through this life He has given me, I just need to allow Him to work through me.
The filmography of this movie is very well done. I did have some problems with some of the edits feeling a bit choppy but this did not effect my enjoyment of the movie. There are a ton of really great Christian songs/artists in the movie. As well, there are a few big names, such as Eric Roberts and Erik Estrada to name a few.
If you’re ever doubting what God has planned for you, I encourage you to pray about it. I encourage you to watch this movie and see how God can work in your life like He did for these five kids. This is a must have movie for all Christian communities to watch.
