“Stress Test” By Richard Mabry
Dr. Matt Newman was on his last day of his private practice and was looking forward to a more “normal” life as a teacher in medicine. It was late at night and he was on his way to his car when all of the sudden his is abducted and taken somewhere to be killed. But some miracle he was able to escape. Little did he know he would end up being wrapped up in a murder case that the police think he did, plus the men who tried to kill him are still after him. Dr. Newman must learn to trust in God to get him through this. This isn’t easy as he’s been “too busy” for God lately. So he talks to his missionary brother and his Christian lawyer and finds the strength to trust.
I LOVED this book. I’m not going to lie though, it’s very intense and I had to take the book in small doses, so not to stress too much. I guess the name of the book fit how it made me feel too. I just hated all the injustice that was going on and how Dr. Newman was being treated, when I knew he was innocent. I did enjoy the little “love story” in there and would love to see where the relationship goes for the two people. That made it worth the stress of the book, the whole “happily ever after” part.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good Christian, law and mystery type of book. Just a warning there is violence and it is very intense. But the book does get you thinking of your time spent with God and are you trusting Him in EVERYTHING.
