It’s been made official!! Yogurty’s Froyo in Waterloo, ON had it’s grand opening today! From 1-3PM they were giving away free frozen yogurt, had games, dancing, music and just a lot of great socializing with the community. You can find the store at 15 King Street South, Waterloo. The store is own and run by Mike Harris. It was very nice to meet him, he’s a very kind and friendly person, which made it easy to fall in love with the place even before we tasted the “goods”.
My experience with other frozen yogurt places has been less then fun. They are usually dark, crowded and you don’t get to put as many toppings on as you’d like. With Yogurty’s my experience was opposite of this. The room is nice and bright, has nice high ceilings, and plenty of room to move around (even with a lot of people coming to get free froyo).
You can choose to either start with putting the frozen yogurt in your cup first or you can add a few toppings in your cup before you begin. Either way works. You then have several froyo flavors to pick from. I choose Birthday Cake and I think next time I’m going to go with a mixture of Raspberry Sorbet and Lime. After I added my froyo I had a huge selection of topping to add. You can add as little or as much as you like. I added a lot of strawberries and a little bit of gummy bears, plus some nuts and peanut butter. When you’re done creating the perfect bowl you then have it weighed and you pay by weight. This is a great concept, as it allows you to get exactly what you want.
We had an awesome time and LOVED our creations. I can’t wait to go back and make something new. If you’re in the Kitchener/Waterloo area you should check out Yogurty’s Froyo, you won’t be disappointed.
