Last year I had the opportunity to review the TemporalScanner by Exergen, I loved this thermometer and was very happy to hear that they created a new scanner, Smart Glow TemporalScanner, that is back-lit to be able to read the temperature in a dark room.
After using our old TemporalScanner for a year I can easily say it’s my favorite thermometer I’ve ever used. It takes a 9v battery, which is different then most digital thermometers we’ve owned, usually we have to buy an expensive watch battery once they die but with the TemporalScanner you can buy a regular battery.
The Smart Glow TemporalScanner works the same with one exception, the temperature is lit up. You use the thermometer by holding down a button after placing it in the middle of your child’s forehead. Hold down that button and lightly go across their forehead til you reach their temple, then let go of the button. The temperature shows up nice and clear. It’s also extremely accurate, “It is an infrared thermometer that captures temperature by scanning the heat that comes off the forehead (via the temporal artery).” We even found it to match that of a thermometer from the doctor’s office.
I would encourage every family to purchase the Smart Glow TemporalScanner. It’s worth it. You don’t have to wake your kids, you can check in the dark and it gives you peace of mind knowing you got an accurate temperature.
