My Thoughts-
My oldest daughter, who is 7.5 years old, LOVES to read. We were excited to have the opportunity to be part of the Katie Woo Book Club and get a kit. The kit included Katie Woo Rules the School, Katie Woo Celebrates, Katie Woo Loves School, Katie Woo and Friends, Katie Woo Don’t Be Blue, Katie Woo and Her Big Ideas. We also got the Activity book, poster, bookmark and pencil. When you sign up for the book club you also get to download fun activities and information about that month’s book selection. That’s pretty awesome.

The books are written by Fran Manushkin. Illustrated by Tammie Lyon. Each chapter book has a great story that draws my daughter in. There are colorful pictures on each page and at the end of each story there are a few activity suggestions that fit in with the theme of the book. The stories fit into the everyday life and adventures a girl in grade 1 would experience, it helps explain things to my daughter in a way she would understand.

My daughter loves reading these books. She wants to read them every night and we usually have to force her to turn her light off and go to sleep. The books are so good she just wants to keep on reading. As a parent this makes me happy, any book that can suck in my child and make her use her imagination to go into another world. I asked her why she liked the book so much and she told me because Katie Woo is her age and the stories are fun.

There is also a Katie Woo app. You can plan a party, scrap book about the party you planned and have fun planning a party with Katie Woo. The app is simple to follow and play with. Below is a screen shot of the scrapbook.

As a family we love these books. My daughter has asked for the rest of the books for Christmas. Not toys, just Katie Woo books. That`s pretty cool to me. I would recommend these book to families with kids ages 6-10.
