“A Simple Christmas Wish” by Melody Carlson
**Warning** I tried not to write any spoilers but I may have given some info away.
Rachel is taking care of her niece, Holly, while her brother and sister-in-law (Miri) celebrate their anniversary in the Caribbean. When tragedy strikes, Rachel is faced with a difficult situation. Because of a mistake in the past she must give up Holly to Miri’s family, who is Amish. She’s worried that Holly won’t fit in and doesn’t like that they are forcing her to give up all her things, after loosing so much already. While visiting Miri’s Amish family Rachel meets Miri’s brother, Benjamin, he’s not like everyone else and she doesn’t know why.
This book takes place around Christmastime and really pulled at my heart. I found at times I wished I could read faster so I could be sure everything was going to be ok. I felt like I was Rachel and this was my story and I wasn’t liking where it was going, I wanted to be happy. The book really sicked me in and Melody Carlson wrote it so well you could feel the emotions pouring from it.
If you’re looking for a really good, quick read, Christmas book with a bit of romance then I think you would love this book. I got me in the mood for Christmas and it also helped me look at my life and all the “things” I think I need but maybe could live without.
