My Thoughts-
“Must-Have Marvin!” by Christy Ziglar

We are a fan of Christy Ziglar’s children books. We love “Can’t- Wait Willow!”, it had such a great and needed message for our whole family. “Must-Have Marvin!” is just as awesome.

Marvin loves all things new. New games, making new things, but he really LOVES new things. Marvin goes to school and see something he just MUST HAVE. He day dreams about it and it gets in the way of school, soccer and even friendships. Once he gets home he see he has enough money to buy that on MUST HAVE item. Once he has it he can’t wait to show it to his friends but his friends have no time for him, they had asked him to help them before and he ignored them. Will Marvin figure out what is most important in life to make him happy?

This is a perfect book for our kids. They tend to see something just MUST HAVE in the store or on TV and that’s all they talk about. They don’t want to play and their conversations are about that must have toy. After reading this to my kids I asked them if they thought they acted like Marvin sometimes? Sheepishly they answered “yes”. So we too the time to talk about it being ok to like something new but not ok to allow it to get in the way of friends and family.

Each page is also a seek and find page. You are to find the star on each page. They love trying to find one before the other person. This book is part of the Shine Bright Kids books, just like “Can’t-wait Willow!” The first page talks about what we will learn in the book and some ways we can interact with it.

Love this book and would recommend it to all families with younger kids.
