“Riley Mae and the Ready Eddy Rapids” book #2 in the Good News Shoes series by Jill Osborne, also part of the faithGirlz! publications.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, “Riley Mae and the Rock Shocker Trek”. Where the first book left off the second book began. Riley Mae and her family and the shoe company are on the run for danger. Someone wants to hurt Riley Mae’s bosses and to hurt them they may hurt their spokes girl, Riley Mae.
They don’t tell her where they are going but soon she finds out and she finds out how much money her bosses really have. In the last book she thought they were just a photographer and a stylist. She finds out they have a ton of money and love to help others. They have a boy named Sunday at their house with his family, he lives in Africa but needed some medical treatment he could only get in North American hospitals. Sunday and his family are strong Christians and while in the hospital Sunday witnessed to a nurse where she asked God into her heart.
Riley Mae isn’t on vacation, while on the run and hiding out they decide to do a photo shoot for her new river shoes, Ready Eddy’s. She must learn how to navigate rapids and still look pretty for the photos. There are many injuries though out the story and they visit the hospital often and see the nurse that Sunday has come to care about.
It’s another high adventure book. I’m loving this series and I can’t wait for the next book. Riley Mae is going on another adventure, but where? One thing I love about this book is it shows your kids facing tough times and turning to God for guidance and help. They read scripture together and lift one another up with God’s Word. This is a book I can allow my kids to read and feel safe at where they are going with the adventure in their head.
I loved “Mandie” books as a kid. I loved how I could go on adventures and become part of the story. I can see these “Riley Mae” books be just like the books from my childhood, for my daughters. I look forward to many more books to come in this series and I hope the author will keep writing them.
