Last week was March break for my kids and we were excited we had the opportunity to review Suteki Stencils by Imports Dragon.
Our kit came with three stencils for a zombie girl and three stencils for a cool dog. It also came with yellow, pink, green and black paint; a art board to put the paint on, a star sponge to apply the paint to the paper, two thick pieces of paper to create your image on, instructions, a case to place your paper on while painted to help not get paint on the table and two frames to put the art work in.
The instructions tell which order to do the stencils in, in order to create the cool look. Each stencil has a color and that is the color you can paint that layer in or you can mix it up and create your own look for it. Once you paint one layer you need to allow that layer to dry. While it’s drying, clean out the sponge and the paint board. We found that the paint took some time to dry and did other activities in between. We also found that the paint board was cardboard and cleaning it was hard to do without getting the board all wet. I think next time we’ll just use our own paint tray for the paint and it will be easier for clean up. Once each layer is painted and dried you can add it to the frame provided. On the back of the frame is a peel and stick part, we didn’t use this as we didn’t want to ruin our walls. However there was an easy way to use a thumb tack to hand it up.
My girls (ages 5 & 9) and I had a lot of fun making these. The end product is so cool. They were very proud of their creations. One of our friends saw the zombie girl and asked if we could create another one for her business. That’s pretty awesome. We went to the Suteki website and we see a lot of other stencils packs we want to get and do for a rainy day or a long weekend. Easter is coming up and it would be a perfect basket gift and long weekend craft.
