“The Story of King Jesus” by Ben Irwin and illustrated by Nick Lee
I was excited to have the opportunity to review this book. I recognized the author’s name because last year our church did “The Story” as small groups, children’s ministry and sermons. Ben Irwin is one of the creators of “The Story”, is written chronological order of event and a narrative of the Bible. Making it easier for us to understand the events in the Bible in an order way.
“The Story of Kind Jesus” is a children’s book that tells short stories walking us through the Bible up to Jesus and his followers. With an easy to story to follow and fun illustrations, the book starts with the creation of the world, the fall of man, Abraham, Jesus’ birth, Jesus’ ministry, His death, and resurrection, then tells us why He did this and what He wants us to do with our lives.
We loved reading through this book together as a family. It’s only 48 pages long and is easy to read together in one night and still have time to talk through what we read and learned. We’ve also broken it up in sections and read through it and had a good discussion. My oldest (9 years old) can read this by herself or to her sister and likes reading it.
I think this would be a great book in every Christian home and in the church library. It’s a great way to talk about the Bible in a simpler way for kids to understand and not be overwhelmed with too many details.
