Linda’s (My) Thoughts-
These two books are geared towards kids age 8-12. So I asked my 9 year old to read over the books, work through the devotionals and journal and then share her thoughts with me. Most of it will be in the video below but I’ll highlight a few things in the The Plans I Have For You Devotional and The Plans I Have For You Journal.
The devotional can be done alone but I recommend you do them together. The journal allows you to dig deeper into what you’ve read for the day’s devotions and also allows you to share your thoughts about every day things. My daughter loves that the journal allows you to be the author and illustrator for the book along with the author Amy Parker and illustrator, Vanessa Brantley-Newton. This made the journal feel it’s part of her and it gave her the motivation to dig deeper into the devo so she can understand more of what to talk about in her journal.
I took some time to look over both books and I can see it easy for my child to understand and it also will allow her to figure out what God is wanting her to do. One page she really liked was when it says that God has a plan and to trust Him. She wrote in her journal that she felt this was saying that even though she may not understand everything God wants her to do that she should do it anyway. I even felt like this book would work great for anyone ages 8 or older. I was having fun going through the devotions and wanted to keep it for myself, I won’t because I think my daughter would benefit greatly from this devo. (this is her first devo/journal combo)
