“Cold Shot” book 1 in the Chesapeake Valor series by Dani Pettrey
Griffin McCray is a park ranger at Gettysburg. One night he find human remains on the land. He calls in Finley Scott, who is a forensic anthropologist. She’s been studying the remains of fallen soldiers at Gettysburg. However these remains are newer, maybe a year old. Griffin is now back at his old job as a police and uses his past skills of being a sniper to help solve this mystery. Also called in are a few of his past friends, Declan Grey and Parker Mitchell. Parker and Griffin have a bad past together and need to learn to forgive each other and themselves if they are going to be able to work well at solving this crime.
I LOVE that Dani Pettery is writing another series. I fell in love with her Alaskan Courage series. The Chesapeake Valor series will be a fun one to follow. In this book we got to meet Griffin. We learned of his past and got to see him fall in love. I have a feeling the next book will be about Parker and his new love interest, but we’ll see.
This book gets very intense and I didn’t want to put it down. It’s a murder mystery with danger. It’s also a story about forgiveness. Many of the characters need to learn to forgive themselves from things in the past and a few needed to learn to forgive each other for things that weren’t always in their control. They even turn to God to help with their forgiveness. I love that Dani Pettery shares the prayers of the characters. It makes the connecting to us the readers more real.
I can’t wait for book two. I love the story lines and the people. I feel like I’m part of their crew.
