In my February appearance on Rogers TV I brought in some Super Sprowtz books. The kind people at Super Sprowtz also donated an extra set of books for “daytime’s” Freebie Friday. below is the video of that segment.

THANK YOU Super Sprowtz and thank you “daytime” for all your support.

First review 1 year ago today!

A year ago today I wrote my first review. It wasn’t even meant to be a review, review. Just a story about a really nice company and their cute clothes so that my family could read it. From there I was contacted by another company asking if I’d review their stuff too and here we are today.
I’ve been in the New York Times, Waterloo Chronicle, on the radio and have made 3 TV appearances. I have over 2175 followers, a growing twitter and facebook page. And have reviewed over 185 products. WOW, never would have imagined all of this. I feel very blessed.

Cute as Bug Boutique Review- March 3rd, 2010

What are my plans/goals for bassgiraffe’s Thoughts?
-there are several bigger name companies I’d love to work with but I’m sure I’m not big enough for them. Plus I love helping out the smaller companies.
-I would LOVE to make a TV appearance on CTV and/or even have my own 30 min TV show on Rogers.
-I would love to be in a magazine (Erica, me, will be in a national magazine campaign starting in May for Biore Pore Strips, but that’s not for bassgiraffe)
-I would love to see my following in the next year double. That’s a HUGE goal and will be a lot of work to get there, but I love the challenge.

What would you like to see?
How can I make bassgiraffe’s Thoughts better for you?

-Side note I started blogging Dec 9, 2009 talking about my family. March 3, 2010 is my official review starting date.

–A lot of the items I receive, I test out and donate to someone. ie- Christian books to a church.

February 2011 Rogers Cable 20 Appearance

I get the privileged of getting to be on Rogers Cable 20 out of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario area, on the show ‘daytime’ with Susan Cook-Scheerer. The show airs LIVE at noon and then re-air at 3, 6 & 11. This show will also be on their Family Day Special on Monday Feb 21st.

WOW, this was very different for me. First off I was to pre-tape the show on Thursday the 17th but due to some needed changes Rogers TV contacted me Tuesday afternoon to see if I could come in on Wednesday day. “OK”. Right after I said those words I wasn’t sure why I did. I wasn’t ready, I planned on taking Wednesday to prep for the show, now not only did I need to get a lot of regular blog work done I have to get my prep work done. On top of that I had to scramble to find another company to review as one of the companies I was going to work with had some problems and wasn’t able to get me their item in time. So with all that I felt in over my head.
So I dug down deep, and went to work. I was up to only 1AM, which is only an hour past when I usually go to bed, so not bad. But then I couldn’t sleep, “was I going to forget something? how do I say this again? what is the name?…” All thoughts running through my head.

Well the show was today. I think it went really really well. I wasn’t as nervous. My whole family got a chance to be on it as well. Hubby sat on the stage with Moo & Lee while the kids played (Lee was coloring pages from the Nightmare Nibbler site).
I got to talk about three items. The first was the Nightmare Nibbler. He’s a little guy your child can take to bed to help “eat” their bad dreams. I also mentioned that they donate a portion of each sale to “Sleeping Kids Around the World” organization. Susan had heard of them which was really cool. The next item I reviewed was the clutch ball from Crafty Baby. Susan really thought it was an interesting shape and loved it was made by a mom.
The last thing I talked about was the Super Sprowtz books, I love these books and was so excited to share them with the viewers. Super Sprowtz also so kindly donated a set of books for ‘daytime’s’ Freebie Friday. I’m excited to see who will win.
I’m not sure if you will be able to tell but in the middle of talking about the clutch ball I kind of go blank, I don’t hear anything except something that happened behind me for about 30 seconds. I felt bad because i missed a part of what was being said. I got home and was like, I have no clue what happened and why I went so blank. Hope it doesn’t show.
Again, I had soooooooo much fun. Feels like I’m in a dream and I don’t want to wake up. Doing reviews, running this blog, having the privileged of being on TV- this all seems so unreal. And I’m loving every minute of it.

Thank you Rogers Cable 20 and Susan Cook-Scheerer. Also a HUGE thank you to Super Sprowtz, Nightmare Nibbler & Crafty Baby.

I also will be doing reviews of these companies on my blog below are the links to the reviews-

Social Networking… in person?

I feel very honored that I got to be part of this first time event, Bingemans eNight. A place were we got to connect with different local companies, people that I’ve met on twitter & facebook and just meet new people. I told a few people this at the event that this is a perfect event to get rid of the stigma that social media sites like Facebook & Twitter cause us to not meet in person and to be unsocial in “real life”. Tonight totally changed that for me. There were people I’ve been following online for months now that I FINALLY got to connect with. I also got to meet some local companies that I can’t wait to work with in the future. I have a review coming about IronKids Gummies-Vitamins, cocoon Apothecary, and would love to work with Big Daddy Kreativ & Transitions Photography. I met so many awesome people like Carlos from 91.5 The Beat, Trevor from Tik Tok Media and Melissa from Jewel 92
Here is a photo with Carlos and me, I was a bit “star struck”, LOL.

So as you can see I did socialize, and not just through twitter. Although we all were tweeting all night using the hashtag- #BingemansEnight – LOL, so we didn’t leave our “social networking” behind us for the night. In fact we combined it all. Below is photo of one of my tweets on a big screen (my camera was a bit slow, but you can see my thumbnail up there)

Another thing that made this event AMAZING is the fact it was held at Funworx (@bingemans). Meaning our kids could come along. This event was free, we had free food, got awesome swag bags and we didn’t have to pay for a babysitter to enjoy this event.

I would be lying if I didn’t say the adults had lots of fun too. I won a snake with my 300 tickets-

Or if you want to see the battle of the stations watch this video of Carlos (91.5 The Beat) and Melissa (Jewel 92) “fighting” in the ball pit. Way too fun/funny.

Yes, we had tons of fun, tons of networking “meet ups” and I learned lots. I hope to be invited to the next event and hope to meet all of you again. thank you Bingemans, Bre, Carolyn and everyone who was involved with the planning, executing and donating to the swag bags. I think your fist eNight went AWESOME.
Forgot to add that I also got to meet some amazing fellow bloggers. This was worth my time, loved it.
