January Rogers Cable 20 TV appearance
I got the privileged of getting to be on Rogers Cable 20 out of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario area, on the show ‘daytime’ with Susan Cook-Scheerer. The show airs LIVE at noon and then re-air at 3, 6 & 11
This time I got to bring in three products to talk about and give my thoughts. Not only that but today was Freebie Friday and each company I reviewed donated some products to giveaway on the show.
This time I was nervous but not as bad as last time. In fact I was more excited then nervous. I got to talk more about being a mommy blogger then about each product. The first product we talked about was from Kiokko Bebe Couture. I talked about their blankets and my love for their washcloths. Kiokko also donated a bib, eco-mini washcloths, eco-washcloths and a pacifier clip for the freebie Friday.
The next product I talked about was the helios bracelet from peacock & lime. I talked about how the whole bracelet is handmade, beautiful and durable. peacock & lime donated a heart wish bracelet for Freebie Friday. The last product I talked about is a book called “Introducing Hairietta Hairison, The One, The Only Me” by Jo Zumbrunnen. I love this book and I think both hosts loved it too. They had a lot of really nice comments after the show about this book and the meaning behind it. Jo Zumbrunnen donated an autographed copy of the book for Freebie Friday.
I LOVE doing these TV appearances. It’s so much and in a way I feel like I’m helping my dad. his dream is to be on TV/Movies and I think seeing his daughter on TV makes him proud. I’m excited to be asked back for Family Day in February. I hope to review a few toys for Family Day. I also want to add how welcoming and kind all the people at ‘daytime’ are. I’m nervous going there but after everyone chit-chats I feel just like we’re talking over coffee. Truly amazing people.
Thank you Rogers Cable 20 and Susan Cook-Scheerer. Also a HUGE thank you to Kiokko Bebe Couture, peacock & lime and Jozy.
I also will be doing reviews of these companies on my blog below are the links to the reviews-

I Was on TV- Rogers Cable 20 (Dec)
WOW, what an honor and what fun. Recently I got to appear on Rogers Cable 20 out of Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario area, on the show ‘daytime’. Susan Cook-Scheerer, one of the hosts of the show interviewed me.
The show airs LIVE at noon and then re-air at 3, 6 & 11. We were asked to be there by 11:30. When we got there we were warmly greeted at the door by someone that works behind the scenes. The room is a smaller room. I say this because when you watch the show on TV you think it’s a huge room. People were very friendly there and I got to check a paper to make sure everything was spelled correctly. I was told I was the third segment, so I got to watch how things were done. This was fun for me since I have a B.A. in video production.
Then it came my turn. My tummy was churning, my head kept saying “I’m really on tv? this is nuts.” Susan Cook-Scheerer was very friendly and helped me relax before we went on air. Once the camera was on I focused on her and tried to convince myself that the camera wasn’t on.
Susan Cook-Scheerer was very knowledgeable about my blog and about Squinkies which was the reason I was in the New York Times in the first place and why I was able to be on their show. I was allowed to share some of the products I’ve reviewed before on my blog. I brought in some monster pillows from Lemonpie handmades, a Lennah Designs necklace, and Bella the Butterfly from Freckles Crafts. It was cool to watch the show afterwords and see all the close-ups of the items. It was hard to pick out just a few to share on tv, but I picked Lemonpie and Lennah Designs, one because I LOVE the product and two because I wanted to support Canadian companies. Freckles Crafts I picked because Rebecca has been a major support for me, she has been there to encourage me and has even just been an “ear” to talk to.
I loved doing this and I might, just might get to do it again. Susan Cook-Scheerer said she would love to have me back to do a live review of items. I mentioned that maybe I could even do a giveaway of the items I review kind of like my blog and she was excited for that. (we’ll just have to wait and see how things go for all of us)
Thank you Rogers Cable 20 and Susan Cook-Scheerer. This totally rocked.
(I made a few errors while talking- for Lennah Designs, I should have said “nursing necklace” not “mommy necklace” and for Lemonpie, I said something about them being work-at-home people and I know this is incorrect and tried to fix it as I went. Just part of being live on TV, very sorry in advance.)
Find the items I talked about-

I was on the radio- FM 98.5 CKWR
On Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 8:35AM EST I was on the radio, FM 98.5 CKWR.
I was soooo nervous coming up to the talk. I hate talking on the phone, in fact I get panic attacks. but at the same time I was sooooo excited too. I got to talk about my blog, and being in the New York Times.
The radio personality was Jeremy Smith. He was easy to talk to and knew a lot about my blog before we talked.
The day before he called me and before he said who he was I could tell “he was the guy from the radio”. He has a definite radio voice. he told me to relax, we’re just two people chatting over green tea. it helped a lot to talk a bit before hand to just get use to it. Also the day before one of my friends calls and and said, “is that you they are talking about on the radio?” I guess they were plugging the segment the day before talking about an area women and her blog being in the NYT and that I was going to be talking the next morning. It made us all even more exciting.
The interview went very well except for my slip of mentioning a major company. They didn’t need free advertisement for me or anyone else. Thankfully Jeremy Smith took it out for me to post the interview on here. Hopefully he forgives me.
I wasn’t even nervous once we started talking.
Something cool is you can listen to the radio live all day. Right now they are playing really cool Christmas music. I encourage you all to tune in.
You can listen to my interview below. It’s about 5 minutes long.
Thank you CKWR and Jeremy Smith.

I’m in the Waterloo Chronicle
I’m so excited to be in my local newspaper. After being in the New york Times my husband, Chris, came up with the idea of informing the local media about a “local women being in the New York Times”. I called my mom and asked if she could write a press release, she worked a new paper office for many many years and I knew she’d be perfect at writing it.
CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE-

One of the media outlets we sent the press release to was our local newspaper, “The Waterloo Chronicle“. Charlotte Prong Parkhill contacted me and set up an interview. Last week she came to my house and we chatted, it really didn’t feel like an interview, more like two friends talking. (which was nice because I was nervous) I had my friend Heather over to watch Maggie so everything would go smoothly, as well. My first impressions were, “wow, she really looked up my blog and had a lot of knowledge about it”. She took pages and page of notes, not missing a detail. After the interview we set up my playroom couch with some items I’ve reviewed and even Maggie got to be in it with her Leo the Lion from LemonPie Handmades, it’s her favorite toy and can’t sleep without it.
The article came out today, I’m the feature in the business section. In the paper my blog name is spelled wrong and there is no link to my blog, so people reading the paper version of the paper wont be able to find me(unless they were able to get my email before it went to print). But they were able to make the corrections on the online version of my article, so hopefully enough people will look at that.
Thank you Waterloo Chronicle and that you to Charlotte Prong Parkhill.
