“Fit Moms for Life” book review & giveaway

ABOUT-
“Fit Moms for Life: How to Have Endless Energy to Outplay your Kids” by Dustin Maher
FIT MOMS FOR LIFE chronicles the successes of 31 mothers who used Dustin’s fitness and weight loss program with stellar successes. Armed with personal stories with before and after photos, Dustin takes the reader through the five pillars of fitness: Mindset, Nutrition, Strength Training, Burst Training, and Environment. Ultimately leading to the end goal: Staying Fit for Life. “

My Thoughts-
Before I totally start I have to say I am so very excited to share my thoughts on “Fit Moms for Life”.
I learned so much from this book. I thought I knew a lot about health and fitness before reading the book. But I realized there was a lot of things I’ve been doing to sabotage long term weight loss and health. Dustin goes through 3 aspects. Your thoughts, your fitness and your food. You need a right mind set to be able to succeed in a long and healthy life style. You need to be consuming the right kind of foods at the right time. I even learned more about carbs and the importance of fat/protein in my diet and why sometimes my hormones are out of whack. In fact I think the diet part was my favorite and I learned the most from. I can’t wait to implement what I learned here for my whole family. I also learned about fitness and what we think is helping is actually hurting us. I’ve been doing crunches after crunches with no really results, I learned I’m doing it all wrong.
I don’t want to give too much away from this book as I think it’s a great book you should go out and buy and read and share with others. I loved what I learned from this book that I’m actually going to be purchasing Dustin’s monthly “Fit Moms For Life” DVD program. It really sounds like the program for me and I know I’ll see results.
One thing that stood out to me about this book is all the success stories written in between each of the chapter of the book. You can read and SEE the results of real moms being able to life a fit, healthy life. I saw plenty of moms who look like me and have 2-3 kids that have had amazing success using Dustin’s programs.
I really think all moms should read this book and even think about possibly getting one or more of his DVD programs. He understands what moms need and how little of time we have. Plus he has the same “motto” I have, no excuses. You can do this, if you really and truly want it.

10 Minute Trainer- Week 2 update

My Thoughts-
This week my plan was to do 2 10 Minute Trainer workouts a day, adding 20 minutes of it. But the WHOLE family has been sick this week. Tummy flu, strep throat, ear infection and fevers were my week. BUT with all that being said I still made a purpose to fit in one workout a day. I did have a few days I was able to do 2 workouts in one day, those days were fun. I’m really liking doing these workouts and Tony Horton gives you two ways to do each move if they are more difficult. You can do it the “regular” way or use the “modification”.
I also want to talk about two of the other workouts in this program. Last week I talked about “cardio” and “Yoga Flex”. This week I’d like to share my thoughts on “Abs” and “Lower Body”.
I actually “hate” both workouts. When I say “hate”, I mean they kicked my butt really hard. With “Lower Body” you are doing a lot of squat moves and you can really feel the BURN. I look forward to working more and more with this and seeing my legs and bum get stronger. For the “Abs” you do 20 moves in 10 minutes. 10 minutes of ab work is no joke. I feel like I can’t finish before it’s even half over. The great thing is Tony says “if you need a break or need to modify do it”. Even at one point the girl who is doing the workout needs to modify. She’s very fit and to know even she needs to modify helps encourage me to keep going. The first workout after doing “abs” I could hardly sit up the next day. It was quite funny actually. But after 2 weeks of it, it’s getting better.
I know I have a lot of people say to me, “what can 10 minutes really do?” I tell them now, “A LOT”! I was in ok shape before this and it is still hard for me and I was still sore after starting. Plus if I have more time I have a schedule/program that helps me be able to get up to 30 minutes of a workout in a day.
A workout is what you make of it. If you want results you’ll put in you 110% if you just want to flop around then don’t work as hard. I can’t wait to share with you my 1 month results from using 10 Minute Trainer. 2 more weeks for the results.

Amazing Mat- review & giveaway

ABOUT-
The Amazing Mat comes from a new and innovative company dedicated to bringing this wonderful product to homes around the globe. It is the result of taking a viable and successful idea in one commercial area and bringing it to the home market. Based in Southern CA, The Amazing Mat Company is committed to providing the highest quality customer service. Our products are backed by a 60 day money back guarantee (less shipping costs).”

My Thoughts-
When you think health and the health of your family I’m sure the first thing you don’t think about if your floor mats. But if you do stop and think about it, it’s one of the dirtiest places in your house. You walk into your house, you have no clue what’s on your shoes(or maybe you do, dog poo? gum?). Needless to say you’ve brought in a lot of germs just wiping your feet on your front mat. I know we use to steam clean our mat twice a year but that really doesn’t make it a healthy place for my kids to be around.
The Amazing Mat has thought of all of this and even more. Each mat comes with numbered layers that you can peel off often. Each layer is also numbered helping you know when you’re getting close to needing to order a new one.
When I first heard of The Amazing Mat, I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. Would it be a cheap piece of plastic, will the peeling layers come off easily? Will it work in my door?
I can say this does not look cheap and we’ve had so many comments on where we bought our “welcome” mat. When I tell them what it is they are all amazed. The layers peel off nice and easily and don’t leave a bad sticky residue on the next layer(there is a slight stickiness but it goes away after a few days which means it’s time to change to new layer). The stickiness picks up all the dirt but you don’t stick to the mat. In fact what I love is usually during this time of year I have salt all over my house, the Amazing Mat has picked this up and I’ve saved my floor from annoying salt. And it’s the perfect size for in front of our door.
We love The Amazing Mat so much we’re thinking about getting one for our garage door way too.
It’s perfect for all families and even more perfect for those of you with little kids who like to crawl around. You can be sure the mat is clean and safe for them to touch.

“Copy-Kids eat fuits and vegetables” DVD- review & giveaway

ABOUT-
Copy-Kids is a DVD series designed to get very young children excited about eating fruits and vegetables.

Simple. Adorable. It features kids having such a good time eating fruits and veggies, that when children watch it they want to join in.

Featuring well-known pediatrician, Dr. Jay Gordon, this product is a positive approach in the quest to get children eating healthy from the start.”

My Thoughts-
I previewed the Copy-Kids DVD before I showed it to my kids and fell in love with it. The kids on the DVD are so cute and it’s so sweet seeing them love eating fruits & veggies. There are 6 veggies videos and 6 fruit videos. Each video focuses on a specific fruit or veggie and just has footage of young kids enjoying the food. You hear all kinds of giggles, lip smacking and crunching as they eat. Some kids even have fun playing with their food while they eat it.
The next day I decided to have a red bell pepper on hand and turn on the video. I didn’t think my kids would eat the veggie. Moo started eating right away and said “like me mommy” and pointed to the video. Lee was a harder sell on trying it but once she had one taste she wouldn’t stop eating it either.

I love it, my girls love it and I’m sure your kids will love it. I would recommend Copy-Kids DVD to families with younger kids, ages 1-5, as the kids in the video are around that age. It worked with my kids and I can’t wait for more videos with more fruits & veggies.

10 Minute Trainer- 1 week

My Thoughts-
I am really LOVING working out to 10 Minute Trainer everyday. I think Moo loves me doing it too. She’s decided to “try too” when I’m working out. She’s way too cute trying at 2.5 years old. But at the same time there is a lot she can do or at least try to do in the videos.
This week I was training for the Spin12 event I did this weekend. So I was working out 2 hours a day. I only did the 10 Minute Trainer for one workout a day and then focused on legs and cardio the rest of the day. My goal for this week is to cut back on the 2 hours a day and hopefully add 1-2 more 10 Minute Trainer workouts a day.
I want to share with you my two favorite workout this week. The first is “Cardio”. Although it’s only 10 minutes it’s really working me out HARD. You move from one move to the next without taking a break. This workout also involves a special attachment to the door and your waste, this adds resistance. This week I haven’t used this but I plan on adding it this coming week, I’ll let you know what I think of the added resistance later. Without the resistance it’s tough so it will be interesting to add extra to it. What I love is you can use the resistance or don’t have to. Plus this helps you start off slow and work your way up to harder.
The second workout I love is “Yoga Flex”. I love yoga in general and what Tony has us do feels so great, and I get to do it twice a week as my first workout. I love that it stretches out my arms and legs and still gets my heart-rate up.
I’m really loving the 10 Minute Trainer and I’m happy to get to share my experience with you.

Weight-
Usually I would give you a weekly update on my weight. But because I was training for 2 hours a day this week, I had a big weight-loss. I do know when I slow down next week will either be the same or a slight gain. With this being said I decided for the first month I will wait til my 1 month update to give you my stats, I hope you all will understand.

Spin12 update- THANK YOU

Thank you all for your love and support through out these past 2 weeks. I was able to make 81% of my goal and I felt so supported through all your kind words and encouragement. If you don’t know what I’m talking about please check out my post about Spin12.

For the past two weeks I have been training hard for this event. I would wake up before my girls would wake up and either do elliptical or bike for 30 minutes. Later on in the day I would do my 10 Minute Trainer(actually 15 minutes with warm up & cool down) then followed by another 30 minutes of cardio, then after the kids where in bed I did another 45 minutes of cardio. All for a total of 2 hours a day. I wanted to make sure I would have enough energy and endurance to get through this hour Spin Class.

I got to the Rebel Creek Golf Club around 10:45, my Spin time was 11AM. I gave them my registration form and received my t-shirt(size 2xl, it’s all they had left, lol), a bike bell from CTV and a water bottle.

After the class before me left their bikes I hopped on and started to warm up. I wasn’t sure if I had it all set correctly but it felt right.

Once the class started I noticed I was Spinning next to someone who looked fit and athletic. I tried very hard to keep up with her. Later on I found out she is Mandy Bujold. She is a local athlete, a boxer and a future Olympian. It was cool to know I was trying keep up with someone so fit and didn’t “die” in the process.
I talked with the Spin teacher afterwards and she told me that she didn’t just teach a “beginner class” today either. That if I was able to keep up I did amazing. That made me feel good too. In fact I really loved doing this spin class that I hope I can find one to join sometime soon. Great cardio workout. My legs are a bit sore but not really that bad.

I was also excited to finally meet and online friend who I have been talking to for at least 2 years now, but never had met her in person. Thanks Trina for letting me know about this event.

Thank you again to ALL of you. I will make a facebook post sometime in the next week with the final numbers raised for this event.
