I had the opportunity through MommyParties to host a Mega Bloks® Barbie® party. I was provided with the Mega Bloks products and I provided the food and entertainment. We had a great turn out and all the kids had tons of fun. Last night I spent 1 hour 45 minutes setting up the Mega Bloks Barbie Luxury Mansion so that the kids could enjoy it today. The house was a huge HIT!!
We had a draw for a Mega Bloks Barbie Pool for one lucky girl and every girl that attended received a Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Kiosks. They couldn’t wait to start playing with their new toys. It was fun to see them get so excited.
The kind people at MommyParties also provided me with a packet with so great party ideas. For one of our snacks they suggested “Cup of Sand”. It contained Nilla wafers, vanilla pudding and a gummy fish, I added the umbrellas for an added touch of color. These tasted great and were so much fun.
As you can see we had a blast. Look at all these smiling faces.
My thoughts on the Mega Bloks Barbie line. The Mega Bloks Barbie Luxury Mansion came with a great set of step by step instructions that was easy to follow. The kit had over 300 pieces and took me an hour and forty-five minutes to put it all together (without my kids help. I feel it would have taken longer but would have been a lot of fun to build this with my kids). The set up included adding the stickers and building each section. The only complaint I have it the floors of the house slip out really easily and can get frustrating to my kids. I do understand this feature is to allow them to make the house to their liking, it just would be nice to not have it fall out so easy.
We also set up the Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Fashion Stand and Ice cream Cart. Both came with great set of instructions and only took 5-10 minutes each to set up. Since the party my kids have been playing with their new Maga Bloks Barbie sets non-stop.
I’m impressed and I know my girls have other sets on their birthday wish lists. These toys are recommended for kids ages 4 and older. The younger kids might get a bit frustrated with the small pieces falling apart but I know the older girls at the party loved switching things up and making a new house.
For this holiday time why not play the new game of Reverse Charades Junior? I know that is what our family will be playing. The concept is you have teams of at least three people. One person will be the guesser and the rest will act out the word on the cards. There is a timer and the team with the most correct answers wins that round. With the junior version the words are easier to read, my 6 year old could read most words given to her.
As a family we played this and have had so much fun. My 6 year old didn’t want to stop playing. We all couldn’t stop laughing. The game was easy enough for my 6 year old to play but still hard enough for us adults to play. Even with watching two people act out the words I still had problems guessing the word.
I would recommend Reverse Charades Junior for all families. It makes for a fun family time and it’s a great educational tool. It helps your child read and helps them learn to use their imagination and act out the word. And for those who don’t have young children the company also have a regular Reverse Charades, I’m guessing with tougher words.Read More
With Christmas just around the corner I think this product is perfect for your little ones. The You Doll Kit comes with everything you need to make a You Doll Super Hero at home with no sewing, you just need an inkjet printer and an iron.
I picked out the Armored Hero Pink & Blue Female 12 inch for my 6 year old, so she can become a super hero. The owner of the company even suggested making “mommy and daddy” dolls for your younger ones so they can have us around as “super heroes”.
The kit comes with batting, the cloth doll, the iron-on material for the head and an iron-on patch for the back once it has been filled and the instruction on how to make it. I highly suggest you check out their how-to video to ensure you make the best doll you can.
After reading the directions we were ready to create our You Doll. Lee couldn’t wait, “I’ve never had a doll look like me before.” Said with enthusiasm and a huge smile. We first found a perfect photo to use and tested out different sizes on regular paper before we used the iron-on paper. Once you print your photo on the iron-on paper you cute out all the background, peel the paper backing off, lay the photo down on the clothe doll and place the parchment paper over the photo. You then iron it on. Once the head is attached to the doll you take the cut up batting and fill the doll. I had to use a un-sharpened pencil to fill the legs and arms. Once the doll is filled I turned the doll over and ironed on the patch that was provided.
Lee LOVES her new doll. She had a lot of fun watching and helping make it and wants to take it everywhere with her. I’m impressed with this doll. It’s simple to follow the directions and almost everything you need is provided in the kit. I did have a small issue with ironing on the face but I was able to figure it out and it now looks great. I know a lot of little ones in our life who will love The You Doll.
Just in time for James Bond 007′s new movie “Skyfall” and in celebration of 50 years of the Bond movies, Toy State has released a series of James Bond licensed remote control cars and lights & sounds cars.
For our review we got the Goldfinger’s Aston Martin DB5 lights & sound car. The car comes in a nice display package and it also allows you to “try it out” before leaving the stores. I was thinking my husband would want to keep this in the box as a collector’s item but once her know I was done taking photos of the product in the package he took it out. The car is help in with plastic and screws, so we had to find a screwdriver to get it out. Once he had it out her tested out each button. One button plays the Bond theme, that one is my favorite button. Another button starts a shoot out, it even has a bullet proof window pop-up in the back. The third button drives backwards. And the last button makes all kinds of car noises, drives forward, stops, does a shoot out and drives forward some more. You can watch my video below to see more of what it does.
The car has a ton of detail and is an awesome toy and collectors item. The car does make a lot of noise but if your child wants to play with it without sound there is a switch on the bottom to turn the sound off. My hubby has had fun playing with the car and my kids love watching him play with it. I would love to get the whole collection of Bond cars from Toy State to add to my hubby’s new collection. So much fun in one toy.

It was almost a year ago that my oldest received her Maplelea Doll, Saila. She fell in love with her from the start and loves brushing her hair and sleeping with her and taking her on trips with her. She loves Saila so much that for her birthday all she wanted was things for her. So for her birthday she got a Maplelea bed and bedding, and a new dress. Now we have the chance to review another dress from Maplelea, the Sweet Saxifrage dress.
The Sweet Saxifrage dress comes in a nice box that can easily be used for a present. In the box is a purple dress, silver shoes, ballet flat and a matching purse. It also comes with a hanger and journal pages for Saila’s journal that you get when you purchase your doll. The journal pages come in English, French and Inuktitut (her native language).
Lee loves this dress on Saila. It’s her favorite color and to quote her, “It’s SO beautiful, I want a dress like that.” She even took Saila trick or treating with her because they both “looked like princesses”. Lee loves having all these different clothes for her Maplelea doll and loves playing dress up. I love reading the journal pages that come with each outfit and sharing with her more about Saila’s heritage.
Do I recommend Maplelea and their dolls? YES! Like I said earlier, we love it enough that we’ve bought many accessories for Lee’s doll and Lee is asking for more for her birthday and Christmas this coming year. I love that these are dolls for Canadian girls and that they teach a bit about their heritage. Lee loves how beautiful and fun it is to play with her doll.
“Maplelea Girls are not found in retail shops. Why? The company keeps its costs down by selling directly to the consumer. Plus many Canadian girls do not live near retail outlets that sell high quality specialty toys. By offering a flat $9 shipping fee for any size order traveling anywhere in Canada, all girls have equal access to the product line. Orders can be placed online at www.maplelea.com or by phone at 1-800-668-4339 24 hours/7 days a week.”
Lee wanted me to show you Saila with her other outfits she has and her bed. The first photo is of Saila with her original clothing on, with her journal and hair brush. The bed and bedding are sold separately. The second photo is of Saila with her Katajjaq Giggles dress, that Lee got for her birthday.Read More
I love working with MommyParties & Mega Bloks to share with a group of parents in my town about their new and fun products. For this party I got to introduce everyone with Mega Bloks First Builders ABC Spell! and 1-2-3 Count! block sets. Plus giveaway a Tiny ‘n Tuff Chase Rig and play a game with the First Builders Play ‘n Go Wagon.
Today we had a full house packed with kids ready to play with Mega Bloks. We had over an hour of fun together playing and learning about these great toys. I loved discovering what the ABC Spell! set had to offer. A lot of times you get play sets with letters and only one of each, but with the Mega Bloks set you get doubles of all the most common letters. This allows for way more fun spelling with your kids, so many more words to build and create. The package says it’s a good toy for ages 1-5 but I even think my 6 year old will love it and learn from it.
At the party we played a game with the First Builders Play ‘n Go Wagon, where each kid had 5 blocks and tried tossing it into the moving wagon. For safety reasons we had the parents help and all kids throw underhand. The game was so much fun. You can see a video below of the game.
I believe the party was a huge success. I love the First Builders Mega Bloks and think they will make a perfect Christmas gift as well. Thank you MommyParties (MomSelect) and Mega Bloks for providing the products to make this party a blast.
