Cabbage Patch Kids 30th Anniversary doll review

Disclaimer- I was provided with one doll for the purpose of my review and posting other info. These opinions are mine and are honest. After we received our free doll my daughter bought one for herself.

My Thoughts-
I remember when I was young how much I wanted the NEW Cabbage Patch Kids dolls when they came out in 1983. They were hard to find and we couldn’t afford one. My parents didn’t have a lot of money to buy one for my brother and I so we saved up our own money; birthday money, chores money, odd jobs money… Once we had saved up enough (in 1984) we went out and each bought our own Cabbage Patch dolls. Mine is named Lori Renee. I loved her so much that I still have her, 29 years later. I also loved the second CPK I got in 1986 for Christmas. Her name was Goldie Pamela and she could take baths.

I’m excited now to share this love for these dolls with my girls. Each have a Cabbage Patch doll they got for their first birthday and now they each have a special 30th anniversary doll. One we got for the review and the other one was purchased by my oldest with her own money that she saved up.

Sunday Leah, she has bond curl hair with pink streaks and a pink dress. She also have silver shoes and comes her own comb. Moo says her doll is “AWESOME” and her favorite thing about her doll is her shoes.

Faith Sophie, she has short black hair with pink streaks and a pink dress. She has yellow shoes and comes with her own comb. Lee loved Moo’s Cabbage Patch doll so much she wanted to get one of her own. She has been saving up her money for a special toy and decided to use the money to buy a doll instead. We went to the store and read each girl’s name and birthday, as well as looked at each outfit they were wearing. She narrowed down her choices to two dolls. It was hard for her to pick, she loved them both. So I had her close her eyes and think really hard at which one she thought would need the most love from her. So she picked Faith.

My girls really love their dolls and I can see them keeping them for their children to play with, just like I have done. If I was going to purchase a new CPK I would pick the “vintage” doll that has yarn hair. I love how nice their hair stays and how easy it is to put up in pony tails or leave down. I love sharing my love of CPK with my girls, I feel like a kid again. It’s also so cool that they still come with the adoption papers, to pledge your love for your doll and that they still have the baby powder smell.

Thank you to Jakks Pacific for providing us with a 30th Anniversary doll.
Please stay tuned for some exciting announcements regarding Cabbage Patch Kids.

Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid when you were growing up? What was their name? Do your kids have one now?

Fairy Tale High doll review & giveaway

* Disclaimer / Disclosure: I received a free sample to facilitate my review. This post reflects my honest, personal opinion and experience with the product which may differ from yours. Product information courtesy of the sponsor. No monetary compensation was provided for this post.

My Thoughts-

My kids LOVE playing princesses and with princess dolls. When I heard of a new doll collections called, Fairy Tale High, I couldn’t wait to see what they were like and see how my girls like them. For my review I was sent Teen Little Mermaid, Teen Cindy and Teen Tink. This was really awesome as Cinderella and Little Mermaid are my girls’ favorite princesses and they both love watching Tinker Bell.

Fairy Tale High are princesses as they would be as teens. Each doll is dressed up in the latest fashions and come with accessories. You can also access webisodes and eBooks about each of the Fairy Tale High dolls. Each eBook is written is diary form but each of the girls. It talks about their adventures together in High School and tells some of their secrets that no one knows. There are two webisodes so far and my girls hope there will be more soon. They would even like a DVD with the Fairy Tale High girls.

Teen Little Mermaid has a shimmery skirt that looks like it’s made out of little purple shells, she has two bracelets and a green top with a green sea shell as an accent. Her hair is blond with red streaks. Lee, my oldest LOVES her doll, she told me that “It’s totally awesome”. On the back of each package the dolls come in is facts about each doll. As an example, Teen Little Mermaid loves “collecting seashells” and “beach vacations”.

Teen Cinderella, also goes by Cindy, has a pink skirt and blue top. She has an mp3 player and headphones to listen to the latest tunes. She also wears bracelets and comes with “glass” shoes. Her hair is blond with blue streaks. Moo, my youngest girl said her dolls was “really cool”. Some info about her is she loves “dancing till Midnight” and “Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!”

Teen Tinker Bell, also known as Tink, has a pink dress and green tights. She also has pink wings, bracelets and a green butterfly hair accessory.

I think these dolls are very cute and help bring out my kids’ imagination even more. They play for hours, making their dolls talk and play together. They make up stories about what they are going to do, they sing and talk about being in school. It’s so fun as a parent seeing your children play together so nicely because they love the toy so much.

The dolls are made very well, great quality. The hair is easy to play with and doesn’t get messy very quickly. The clothing is stitched very well too. The only thing we have had problems with is the bracelets falling off and getting lost, for now we’ve placed the bracelets in my daughter’s jewelry box, just until they are older and can keep track of their toys better.

If you have little princesses in your house I think they will love playing with Fairy Tale High dolls. I know my kids have the rest of the collection on their Christmas wish list. You can find Fairy Tale High dolls at Toys R Us stores, select Wal-Mart stores and online retailers.

Sea Sparkles mermaids by Aurora- review & giveaway

* Disclaimer / Disclosure: I received a free sample to facilitate my review. This post reflects my honest, personal opinion and experience with the product which may differ from yours. Product information courtesy of the sponsor. No monetary compensation was provided for this post.

My Thoughts-
My girls are obsessed with mermaids. They lay on the floor and pretend they are swimming like them, they draw pictures of them and they love watching movies about them. As a parent I LOVE Aurora. So when Aurora came out with the Sea Sparkles line I was excited!!

Each doll has a sparkly swirly fin and a sparkle top that had a jewel on it. The mermaids’ hair is made of yarn and is two colors. Sea Sparkle dolls come in many sizes, ranging from 10″ all the way to 38″!

My daughter received a 10″ doll. I choose the “Merissa” doll for her. Merissa had brown hair like my daughter and is covered in purple, her favorite color. I surprised my daughter with the doll last week, by setting it in her seat in the van. Then after school she came to the van and was so excited!! She hasn’t put the doll down since, she sleeps with her, takes her in the car, plays mermaids with her. It really is so cute. Now my youngest is asking for one for her birthday.

I love that the dolls have yarn hair, this makes the hair stay nicer and yet still fun to style. The doll also has a weighted bottom, so she can sit. Ours sits on my daughter’s headboard while she is at school.

I would totally recommend Sea Sparkles dolls by Aurora. They always have great quality products and these dolls are so much fun.

Ring Bling Game review & giveaway PLUS get 15% off!

My Thoughts-
Ring Bling is a game by Super Duper Publications. The game is an interactive game where kids earn rings for their colored hand. There are three different types of cards. The Yellow cards contain basic directions like “Kiss a slimy frog”. They don’t really kiss a frog but they need to use their imagination and kiss like they are really kiss the frog, maybe make a gross face. The Blue cards are what I would call “If” cards. For example “If you like brownies, say ‘baa’ like a sheep.” For my daughter she doesn’t like brownies so she didn’t do anything at all. And finally the Pink cards, they are “before” and “after” cards. This helps them learn how to do things in order. The game is for ages 5 & up and can be played with 1-4 players.

My oldest daughter LOVED playing Ring Bling. She is 7, so the directions to her seemed simple but I challenged her to be extremely creative in her actions. When we were playing I saw a drama queen come to life. Watching her stretch her imagination was so much fun.

The game is played with a hand and several rings. The directions suggest starting with 12 rings. Once the player completes a task the spin the spinner and add the amount of rings to their play hand. OR there is a spot on the spinner that tells you to give a ring to another player. It’s a fun twist. We played the game as a one player game so we skipped the spinner, but I know when she has friends over to play she will love to use the spinner and see what rings will go where. The game is silly and fun and kept my daughter active for over an hour, I’m sure she would have played longer if I would have let her. Even though there is only 50 cards, she wanted to play them over and over again and try different things with them.

As a parent I really love this game. It’s great to encourage your child’s imagination and it helps them learn how to take directions. It’s a great educational tool, teaching them before & after, following simple commands and helps them think about the “if’s”. I would recommend this game to parents with young kids and to schools as a great “rainy day” activity. For classrooms you can purchase extra rings and hands, that way you can include more children.

I’m actually impressed with Super Duper Publications. I’ve looked over their website and have a list of games I want to get for the future. One game that I think will be perfect for our family is Yogarilla. It’s a deck of card that demonstrates basic yoga moves but with a gorilla. I think it’s a really cute idea to make yoga fun for kids and to get parents moving along with them.

You can get 15% OFF from now until March 31, 2013 by using the code- KSBLOG1317 at Super Duper Publications website. Plus get FREE shipping to the US and Canada with orders over $20.

Mega Bloks® Barbie® party

I had the opportunity through MommyParties to host a Mega Bloks® Barbie® party. I was provided with the Mega Bloks products and I provided the food and entertainment. We had a great turn out and all the kids had tons of fun. Last night I spent 1 hour 45 minutes setting up the Mega Bloks Barbie Luxury Mansion so that the kids could enjoy it today. The house was a huge HIT!!

We had a draw for a Mega Bloks Barbie Pool for one lucky girl and every girl that attended received a Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Kiosks. They couldn’t wait to start playing with their new toys. It was fun to see them get so excited.

The kind people at MommyParties also provided me with a packet with so great party ideas. For one of our snacks they suggested “Cup of Sand”. It contained Nilla wafers, vanilla pudding and a gummy fish, I added the umbrellas for an added touch of color. These tasted great and were so much fun.

As you can see we had a blast. Look at all these smiling faces.

My thoughts on the Mega Bloks Barbie line. The Mega Bloks Barbie Luxury Mansion came with a great set of step by step instructions that was easy to follow. The kit had over 300 pieces and took me an hour and forty-five minutes to put it all together (without my kids help. I feel it would have taken longer but would have been a lot of fun to build this with my kids). The set up included adding the stickers and building each section. The only complaint I have it the floors of the house slip out really easily and can get frustrating to my kids. I do understand this feature is to allow them to make the house to their liking, it just would be nice to not have it fall out so easy.

We also set up the Mega Bloks Barbie Build ‘n Style Fashion Stand and Ice cream Cart. Both came with great set of instructions and only took 5-10 minutes each to set up. Since the party my kids have been playing with their new Maga Bloks Barbie sets non-stop.
I’m impressed and I know my girls have other sets on their birthday wish lists. These toys are recommended for kids ages 4 and older. The younger kids might get a bit frustrated with the small pieces falling apart but I know the older girls at the party loved switching things up and making a new house.

I was giving free product from Mega Bloks and for being part of MommyParties part of MomSelect. All opinions are my honest thoughts and are of my own.
