I was given a free sample in exchange of my honest opinion. I asked my husband to give his honest opinion an he was not required to write a positive review.
Erica asked me to review the Guardians of the Galaxy 1000 Dot-To-Dot Book by Thunder Bay Press. I’m sure you have all heard of adult coloring books which have been gaining in popularity over the last couple years, well this seems to be the next in line for extending childhood activities into adulthood 😉
The book contains twenty different dot-to-dot pictures including one massive 2000 dot to dot pull out poster with Rocket & Groot.
I decided to begin with the first picture in the book before realizing that the list of the back of the book showed what each one was. Not that it would have made a difference at all, but it was cool not knowing exactly what was going to pop out of the page as you completed the picture. I went to the store and got a very fine tip pen to make sure it looked really good. I found the pen I used dries a bit slow, so I had to watch where I rested my hand, but otherwise it worked well. You could probably do it with a nice sharp pencil as well but I wanted the lines to look nice and sharp. I may eventually colour it in as well, but I’m not sure yet. I’ll probably do a few more first.
You really need to make sure you have good light as the numbers are very small. They are color coded with each group of 100 dots the same color then changing to a new colour for the next hundred. This made it helpful especially where there were a lot of dots close together to be able to find the next one to go to.
A friend suggested that I use a ruler next time, which I might do, but I just drew free hand this time around and it turned out pretty good. There were a couple times I found I had skipped a couple numbers, but I simply went back and found where I missed, made the corrections and you really couldn’t tell where I mixed up.
I took a picture before starting and every 100 dots to show you the progression of the picture
I really enjoyed this book a lot more then I thought I would. It was nice to take a break from work or between appointments and do 100 dots worth of drawing.. It was nice to take my mind and eyes off of what I was doing for a quick break then get back to what I was working on before.
If you are a dad, or have a father who really likes Guardians of the Galaxy this would be a great father’s day gift. They have other 1000 dot-to-dot books out as well with other super heroes as well so make sure to check them out.
